Super-bright shades like Barbiecore Pink and Kermit Green were on fire in 2022. Turns out, they’re retiring for 2023, making room for a wider range of colors, from new neutrals to earth tones to some brighter shades. We’ve checked out the runways and retail to search out the top seven color trends to rock this year. From pale pinks to tranquil blues to matte metallics, there’s a shade for everyone.
Pale Pink Pastels
Say good-bye to Barbie pink and hello to a paler, more subdued pink. You’ll see this shade in unique incarnations, like Chanel’s tailored pink suits, Stella McCartney’s minimalist pink jumpsuits and Fendi Couture’s sheer pale pink dresses. Both women and men can wear pale pink and pair it with neutrals in gray, light brown, ivory and beige shades.
Our Favorite Product Recommendations: We like the Bella + Canvas Ladies' Flowy Racerback Tank in Soft Pink, as well as Bella + Canvas Ladies' The Favorite T-Shirt in Pink, Lilac and Heather Raspberry. For him, take a look at the Next Level Apparel Unisex Cotton T-Shirt in Light Pink and Desert Pink.
Viva, Viva Magenta
We mentioned Pantone’s Color of the Year, Viva Magenta, in our recent t-shirt trends blog, but it bears repeating here. This deep, pinkish-red shade reminds us of ripening berries – it’s powerful, empowering and expressive, and is universally flattering for all ages, genders and skin tones. Prabal Gurung, Giambattista Valli and Del Core paraded this shade down the runway to make a statement. However, for everyday wear, pair a top in this shade with a neutral like white or navy.
Our Favorite Product Recommendations: We like the Gildan Adult Softstyle T-Shirt in Heather Cardinal and Antique Cherry Red We also like Next Level Apparel’s Ladies' Ideal Racerback Tank in Cardinal.
Tranquil Blues for Miles
This year, we’re enjoying soothing blues that reflect the sea and sky, in shades of pastel blue, azure and turquoise – replacing bright blues and royal. Rejina Pyo, Fendi and Alberta Ferretti used these shades in their shows, adding a touch of tranquility and elegance to their looks.
Our Favorite Product Recommendations: Try on the Anvil Lightweight T-Shirt in Baby Blue, Caribbean Blue and Teal Ice. Just as nice, we like the Jerzees Adult NuBlend Fleece Pullover Hooded Sweatshirt in Light Blue, Columbia Blue, California Blue and Scuba Blue.
Shades of Gold, Silver and Bronze
We love the metallic shades on the runways, with gold, silver and bronze all enjoying a moment in the molten spotlight. The good news? You don’t need to “go disco” with shiny metallic shades. Instead, choose t-shirts or hoodies in these shades in muted or matte tones. If you’re cool-toned, you’ll look better in silver and gold, while bronze is better for warmer skin tones. Metallic shades uplevel any outfit with a touch of luxe and youthful radiance.
Our Favorite Product Recommendations: Try on the Bella + Canvas Unisex Jersey T-Shirt in both Silver and Gold. We like the Gildan Adult Heavy Blend Adult 8 oz., 50/50 Fleece Crew in Dark Chocolate, for a bronzed effect.
